A protein skimmer is one of the most important pieces of technical equipment for a seawater aquarium. It has the vital task of removing protein compounds that occur in the water cycle before they break down into nitrogen compounds (such as dangerous nitrate) through biological decomposition processes. Protein skimmers reduce the organic pollution of the aquarium water and establish stable water conditions. DuplaMarin Skimmers are high-performance protein skimmers. Due to the modification (disperser principle using pin wheel) implemented in the most recent AquaBee generation, an air and water mixture with extremely fine bubbles is produced, resulting in an exceptionally high skimming rate.
